CWS Milestones



  • The Doulos Project by the Catholic Welfare Services in partnership with the Sacred Heart Church started in May 2011 (till December 2014) to provide free lunch for the poor and needy in the church premises.
  • Dusk To Dawn - A one of its kind nursing home-based night care pilot programme at St. Joseph's Home started on May 2012 offering dementia care service to people with dementia and their carers living in the community
  • Gift of Love Home moved from the Marymount area to its new premises on February 8, 2012, at 35 Boon Lay Avenue.
  • April 2012- December 2013. CWS relocated temporarily to St. Theresa's Home pending retrofitting of the 55 Waterloo Street building renamed "Catholic Centre".


  • Villa Francis moved to its new premises on September 14, 2013 from Mandai to 91 Yishun Central to complement the existing day and rehabilitation services in the vicinity, as well as the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) and the Yishun Community Hospital due to open in 2015.
  • The CWS Hub opened at the new CWS HQs as a refuge to those in need of support and assistance. With the theme, "Co-Creating Success Stories" as a Care-Plan strategy, our social workers, together with our clients, work closely with community partners and volunteers, to create a supportive and conducive environment to empower the clients to strive towards a goal of self-sufficiency.


  • St. Joseph's Home moved on September 2014 to its temporary location at 9 Mandai Estate to make way for redevelopment of its Jurong premises until its completion expected end of December 2016.
  • CWS Night Mission, initiated on 30 May 2014, with weekly walks on selected routes to befriend and invite the 'homeless' to CWS Hub for further assessment.


  • Villa Francis officially opened on May 16, 2015 at its new location.
  • Agape Village began its work on June 2015 (officially opened November 21, 2015) at Lorong 8, Toa Payoh. CWS is the lead case manager working closely with other in-house affiliates of Caritas Singapore in providing holistic care to persons In need of help.


  • St. Joseph's Home moved back to their new home in February 2017. The new home has an increased capacity of 412 (from 139) residents, and is the first charity nursing home to introduce facilities such as a hydrotherapy pool, an infant and child-care centre within the home and an inter-generational playground.
  • The inaugural CWS Walkathon 2017 was held in April 2017. It was an outreach effort to raise awareness about CWS and to garner partnerships with corporate sponsors and volunteers, and to build new initiatives to impact the lives of our beneficiaries.


  • St. Joseph's Home celebrated its 40th anniversary and official opening on March 19, 2018 (Feast of St. Joseph), with Guest-of-Honour, Most Reverend Archbishop William Goh, and Special Guest, Dr. Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State for Health.
